#UmphakathiCompetition

The Umphakathi Competition was launched on Transit TV’s very own WhatsApp line – now dubbed “TransitChat”, with the intent of creating a sense of community amongst our commuter audience.

After sifting through many wonderous and creative community name suggestions, we have selected our 3 winners!

Ntsikayesizwe Mapeyi, who deems himself as innovative, with a strong work ethic, has come in first place with his clever entry and play-on-words, “TransitChat”. When asking how the competition made him feel, he replied “I felt very important and recognized”.

Nonkululeko Radebe is a 29-year-old mother and go-getter! Her entry “SiwinaSonke”, and our 2nd place prize winning name, was inspired by a local businessman within her community, and represents the spirit of Ubuntu in her eyes.

Bonginkosi Mbewu has secured himself with a 3rd place prize with his entry “Thetha Mhlali” which roughly translates to “the voice of the community”. He states: “since my tongue is isiXhosa, I thought that this name would be relevant, and represent my community views”.
